Prior to my 25+ years in real estate I worked for the Toronto Dominion Bank. My last position was as a Senior Analyst with the ABM department, overseeing the development and implementation of new technology for branches across Canada.
While I enjoyed my career with the bank, I developed a keen interest in real estate and decided to quit my day job to pursue it full-time. It was quite a risk to leave the security of a good job to start my own business, but I believed strongly in the value of home ownership and wanted to help people to achieve the Canadian dream.
Real estate has been good investment for me, and my personal experience with property ownership started when I was 21 years old. I bought 100 acres of beautiful bush property, full of hardwood trees and a big pond in Bracebridge. I logged parts of the property during my time off work and sold firewood to my managers at the bank. It was tough but satisfying physical work, and I enjoyed spending my time outdoors and being with nature.
I wanted to share my positive experience of property ownership and I realized real estate was definitely a product wanted to sell. My wife and I decided to make a big life change and sold our home in Toronto for a bungalow in Barrie, where we could raise our family and focus on work we enjoyed. I have always believed that an intelligent purchase will always pay off in the future, no matter what market you buy your property.
I feel strongly about the importance of protecting private property rights against regulations that limit the property owner’s power, and so I became the Barrie and District Real Estate Association’s Political Committee Affairs Chair. As Chair, I have lobbied Parliament Hill MPs, Queens Park MPPs and Municipal government on many property rights issues. Most notably, my team was instrumental to introducing and expanding the Home Buyer’s Plan and stopping the Municipal Land Transfer Tax from coming into Barrie. I have held this position for 20 years, and it has given me a unique insight into the legislation that impacts real estate.
Many years and many properties later, I have never looked back. I’ve owned all kinds of income properties, including an apartment building, duplexes, and single family homes. I’ve sold and leased countless properties over the past 25 years, including farms, vacant land, businesses, commercial properties and industrial properties. Because of my strong background in finance, I also specialize in determining the value and viability of small businesses.
Welcome to my website, It is my sincere wish to make your property buying and selling experience profitable and pleasurable.
